Facilities Maintenance Technician
Location:
Southfield, MI 48033 United States
Duration: 12 Months
Pay range:$22 to $25/hr

Roles / Responsibilities
o As a member of the Facilities Department, this position will support the day-to-day operations of the department.
o On-call in the event of an unforeseen emergency (e.g. flood response, freezer failure, etc...).
o Hands-on Facilities work such as minor/moderate repairs, troubleshooting, routine preventative maintenance (e.g. boiler blowdown), set-up for events, emergency response, and spill clean-up.
o Support the Facilities Maintenance Manger in the coordination of external contractors and vendors (e.g. electricians, plumbers, equipment calibration services, etc...).
o Utilization of electronic databases for equipment maintenance tracking (e.g. COGz, SharePoint).
o Close interaction and collaboration with the Environmental Health and Safety Department.

Every client employee is responsible for maintaining RC compliance in their area of influence. The Facilities Department for the Southfield Site has a substantial role in RC, including:
• A heartfelt safety-first mindset
• Thorough documentation, reporting and record retention for all operations
• Adherence to global, regional, and local SOPs and regulatory standards
• Issuance or approval of Safe Work Permits and support of SWP program annual reviews as well as on-the-job inspections of contractor performance
• Detailed tracking and maintenance of safety devices (e.g. oxygen monitors, pressure relief valves)
• Proper usage, cleaning, and storage of Personal Protective Equipment.
Qualifications
o General knowledge in the operation and maintenance and of an industrial building including fire suppression and monitoring systems, electrical, plumbing, compressed gas systems, steam boilers, HVAC, etc...
o Understanding of cal/OSHA and EPA touchpoints (e.g. roof work, hot work, confined space work, and spill prevention requirements).
o Experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
o Able to carry safely 50 lbs. (e.g. too dump bags of salt into brine tanks).
