• Full‑time, 40 hours per week.
• Location:
  
  District 1 – Middletown, Southington, CT.
• A valid driver’s license and pre‑physical examination are required.
• Shifts will vary; weekend coverage is mandatory.
• Candidate pool may be used to fill future vacancies at various Rest Area facility locations.

Middletown

• Wednesday – Sunday: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
• Monday, Tuesday: OFF

Southington

• Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Sunday: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
• Friday, Saturday: OFF

• Grass cutting, trimming, shrub bed maintenance, hedge row trimming, litter pickup, snow and ice removal.
• Continuous cleaning within the confines of the rest area grounds and buildings.

The ideal candidate would possess a comprehensive background in maintenance trade practices, adeptly applying mechanical principles and utilizing maintenance materials to ensure efficient operations.

• Experience in maintenance trade practices.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of maintenance materials.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a pre‑physical examination.

Middletown, CT & Southington, CT (District 1).

$46,188 – $57,717 per year (effective 6/26/2026; new state employees start at minimum wage).
