Job Description

Hours: Eight (8) hours per day – Time to be determined.

Job Goal: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.

Supervision: Reports to Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds and the Building Principal.

Education, Work Experience, and Licensure:

Required: Demonstrate aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
Preferred: High School diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent. Prior experience as a school custodian or equivalent. Driver’s license.

Performance Responsibilities

Special Assignments: Assemble set up, gymnasium bleachers, and manage related quality of work issues at start of each day’s shift. Organize schedule of part‑time custodians for assembly set‑up, gymnasium bleachers, special events, etc. Assist with snow removal. May require morning, evening, and/or weekend work.

Daily Tasks:

Sweeps all tiled floors and mops spills.
Vacuum all carpeted areas including entrance mats, hallway mats, and classroom rugs.
Dust all window shelves, televisions, blinds, thermostats, and counter tops.
Clean and disinfect all classroom sinks daily.
Empty trash; replace liners if soiled; wash trash can if dirty.
Dry mop all hallways and entrance areas using auto scrubber.
Clean and disinfect all drinking fountains in assigned area.
Clean all lavatories as instructed.
Remove graffiti.

Weekly Tasks:

Wet mop entire classroom(s).
Clean all windows in assigned area.

Bi‑Weekly Tasks:

Burnish hallways.

Other Responsibilities:

Empty recyclable bin in approved container for pickup as needed.
Position requires mandatory overtime as needed.
Secure the building each night; report maintenance requests (lights, heat, windows, etc) via appropriate procedures.
Use cleaning chemicals, finish removers, floor machines, and wet/vacuum machines as required.
Lift heavy objects, shovel snow, spread sand and salt on sidewalks.
Operate machinery such as lawnmowers, weed whackers, snow blowers, etc.
Work hours:

2:30 pm to 10:30 pm (unless overtime needed) with two 15‑minute breaks (break times to be determined).

Job Requirements

At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
