Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician Lead is responsible for overseeing preventive and routine maintenance for all distribution center equipment and structures, as well as performing complex repairs while supporting production operations. This role leads the evening shift schedules, including the 2nd shift (Tuesday‑Friday 12:00 pm‑10:30 pm).
Responsibilities- Oversee a team of technicians in the performance of general maintenance, preventive maintenance, and upkeep of the entire distribution center.
- Review the Computerized Maintenance Management System and assign technicians to work orders, maintenance tasks, and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Perform quality control checks on all maintenance tasks, work orders, and documentation.
- Document and report completion of all facility/material handling equipment maintenance to supervisor.
- Troubleshoot and repair extensive electro‑mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems (e.g., PLC malfunctions, transformer failures, VFD diagnostics, shoe/tilt tray sorter repairs, servo‑motor troubleshooting, cardboard baler service).
- Design or fabricate necessary components for projects.
- Operate lift trucks, maintenance equipment, grounds equipment, and company vehicles.
- Perform extensive maintenance procedures, including daily preventive maintenance inspections.
- Properly follow lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, use required PPE (safety glasses, arc‑flash suits, respirators, fall protection), and comply with company and OSHA safety procedures.
- Support junior technicians in basic facility/grounds maintenance (e.g., plumbing, yard work, light‑bulb replacement, drywall repair, HVAC checks, cleaning, floor repairs).
- Support junior technicians in troubleshooting and repair of basic electro‑mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems (e.g., belt tracking, sensors, chain alignment & tension, gear‑box/motor replacement, electrical overloads, blown fuses).
- Use industrial power tools such as welders, bandsaws, lathes, presses, bench grinders, etc.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 7 years of facility/material‑handling equipment maintenance experience with at least 3 years as a Technician III equivalent, or 5 years with 5 years in a relevant field.
- Experience with conveyor systems, HVAC, plumbing, general building maintenance, and knowledge of safety regulations.
- Proficiency in PLCs, PC controls, welding procedures, electrical repairs, and installation.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to read, write, perform business‑related mathematics, analyze data, and use a computerized maintenance management system.
- Capable of moving up to 40 pounds over 25 ft with or without assistance.
- Comfortable operating equipment 30–40 ft in the air.
- Able to comfortably fit and work in a fall‑protection harness.
