Job SummaryThe Controls Engineering Technician supports Controls Engineering activities such as testing, check‑out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of miscellaneous control systems. The Technician must be experienced in performing maintenance and troubleshooting activities on control systems in a high‑volume manufacturing environment. The individual will work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble‑shooting functions.
EssentialDuties
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting PLC systems such as Omron, Mitsubishi, and Allen Bradley.
- Understanding of electrical hardware, schematics, wiring diagrams, SOP’s, P&’s, PFD’s, sequence control, and software design.
- Experience performing maintenance and troubleshooting activities on control systems in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting complex control systems, including software, hardware, wiring, and electro‑mechanical components.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting manufacturing image vision systems such as Keyence and Cognex.
- Experience with various mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical control system components.
- Ability to cooperate and work with related departments including overseas.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Wearing PPE is required for some roles at PENA and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

High School Diploma, GED - Preferred:
Associates degree in Electronic Technology or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with wiring/cabling/grounding/shielding, wire gauge/terminations, and load/temperature requirements.
- Must be able to work a 12‑hour shift (day or night) to support 24/7 battery manufacturing Control Systems support.
- Ability to cooperate and work with related departments including overseas.
- 3+ years of manufacturing controls engineering technician experience performing maintenance is preferred.
- Familiarity with industrial machinery design and related NEC NFPA 70 and 79 codes.
- Familiarity with ISA standards and symbology.
- Knowledge regarding electrical requirements in hazardous locations (Class I, Div
2). - Experience with 480 V panel installations.
- Background working in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
