Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
As a Data Center Engineering Technician, you will be a pivotal guardian of mission‑critical technology infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and maintaining an extraordinary 99.999% uptime for global digital experiences. You will be on the front line, hands‑on troubleshooting electrical and mechanical equipment, operating generators, three‑phase power systems, UPS units, PDUs, batteries, CRAC units, chillers, cooling towers, water systems, and fire/life safety equipment across AWS data centers.
Key Responsibilities- Perform daily building rounds to monitor and record equipment performance for 24/7 reliability.
- Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS).
- Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack‑level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Install and decommission racks within internal SLA.
- Conduct predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Write technical documentation to support change management.
- Manage daily work requests and execute projects from conception to completion.
- Support on‑site contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors ensuring compliance with established practices and local legislation.
- Adapt to varying shift schedules, including up to 12‑hour shifts and potential on‑call rotations.
- Support multiple locations/sites as required.
- Regularly lift or move up to 39 pounds independently.
- Participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds.
- Perform construction tasks while on a ladder and maintain balance.
- Walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders, grasp, carry, push, and pull objects into position.
- Work in environments requiring ear protection.
- Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
- Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until your assigned facility becomes operational.
- Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of the assigned facility.
- Must be able to travel over 50 miles or commute less than 50 miles to active data center sites as required.
- 1+ year of experience in electrical or mechanical work, or data center or mission‑critical facilities (e.g., hospital, military, public safety).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
