Job Description
It’s extremely important that Army National Guard communications don’t fall into the wrong hands. As the Radio and Communications Security Repairer, you will maintain the equipment and systems that ensure Army National Guard units can communicate over secure channels.
Responsibilities- Install and repair circuits and wiring and calibrate and align equipment components.
- String overhead cables between utility poles and repair systems.
- Perform equipment tests and preventive maintenance checks and services.
- Use test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment, test program sets and interactive electronic technical manuals to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Advanced Repairers also train and supervise other soldiers, test equipment, perform complex repairs, and ensure NSA‑approved components are used in security and cryptographic repairs.
- Communication security policy and procedure.
- Strong attention to detail.
Through 10 weeks of Basic Training and 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, you will learn mechanical, electronic, and electrical principles, preventive maintenance procedures, and communication security policies and procedures. The training is paid and you qualify for tuition assistance.

- Most non‑prior‑service candidates will earn between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change.
- Must be enlisted in the Army National Guard.
- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate.
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35.
- Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
- Must meet citizenship requirements.
