Business Development Manager

Department: Electrical & Mechanical Apparatus Service & Repair

Location: South Carolina

Hobgood Electric Company is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager (BDM) to help grow our Electrical and Mechanical Apparatus Service & Repair business across South Carolina.

This role is focused on developing long-term customer relationships in industrial, municipal, and utility markets—supporting motor, pump, gearbox, and rotating equipment service, repair, and reliability solutions.

• Develop and manage relationships with:
  • Industrial plants and manufacturing facilities
  • Municipal water and wastewater systems
  • Utilities, engineers, and maintenance teams
• Identify and pursue opportunities related to:
  • Electric motor and pump repair
  • Mechanical and electrical apparatus service
  • Gearbox service and repair
  • Field service, troubleshooting, and emergency response
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance programs
• Work closely with internal service, repair, and operations teams to:
  • Qualify opportunities
  • Scope customer needs
  • Transition work smoothly from sales to execution
• Serve as the primary point of contact for key customer accounts
• Track opportunities and customer activity in CRM
• Represent Hobgood Electric during customer meetings, site visits, and industry events throughout South Carolina

• 5+ years of B2B sales or business development experience
  , preferably in:
  • Electrical or mechanical service and repair
  • Motor, pump, or rotating equipment services
  • Gearbox repair or industrial power transmission
  • Industrial maintenance or reliability services
• Strong understanding of industrial and municipal environments
• Proven ability to build trusted, long-term customer relationships
• Comfortable calling on:
  • Maintenance managers
  • Plant engineers
  • Reliability and operations teams
• Self-motivated, organized, and accountable
• Technical aptitude or hands-on industry experience is a strong plus
