Job Summary

The role of the property maintenance assistant is to support the property management team in ensuring that properties are well‑maintained and in good working order.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting with regular inspections and maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, fixing leaks, and ensuring HVAC systems function properly.
  • Tracking maintenance supplies and tools and assisting in ordering new supplies as needed.
  • Helping with minor repairs around the property, which may include plumbing, electrical, or carpentry work.
  • Assisting in maintaining the exterior of the property, including landscaping, driveway and patio cleanliness and cleaning common areas.
  • Occasionally interacting with Residential Services staff to understand their needs and provide updates on the progress of work.
  • Keeping records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered during projects.
  • Gaining hands‑on experience and learning new skills under the guidance of the property managers.
  • Maintaining logs of maintenance activities and repairs, and reporting any major issues to the property manager or maintenance supervisor.
  • Coordinating maintenance and repair requests, scheduling contractors, and ensuring that properties are well‑maintained and meet safety standards.
  • Interacting with residents to address maintenance requests and ensure their needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Providing access for vendors to residents.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintaining client confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance, often wearing a uniform or business attire.
Requirements
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience as maintenance or related fields.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with clients.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, and weekends, as needed.
