Job Summary

Performs facility equipment and machinery preventive maintenance and repairs.

Essential Functions
  • Monitors and troubleshoots facilities equipment and machinery to ensure it is in safe working order.
  • Oversees outside contractor equipment and machinery installations, maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintains facility grounds and parking areas including lighting, sprinkler systems.
  • Performs scheduled vehicle preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Performs regularly scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Operates forklifts and scissor lifts as necessary.
  • Maintains facilities hazardous material inventory and safety data sheet binders.
Other Functions
  • Assists with shoveling snow and salting/sanding sidewalks during winter months.
  • Cleans and paints doors and walls as needed.
  • Replaces air conditioner air filters on a quarterly basis.
  • Other tasks assigned as needed that might be outside normal job duties.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates degree, or technical degree.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A working knowledge of Excel, Word, Access and Outlook (email).
  • Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the preventive maintenance and repair of the facilities, equipment and machinery.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Four years experience painting and performing equipment and machinery maintenance.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or tools and occasionally must reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Environment
  • Work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Work with electrical equipment and be exposed to the risk of electrical shock.
  • Work in high or precarious places.
  • Be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Work both inside and outside in heat, cold, wet, and dry conditions.
  • Frequently use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous conditions.
  • Work overtime and weekends on special projects.
  • Work in areas with moderate to high noise levels.
