The Custodial Lead serves under the direction of the Facilities + IT Team Lead to lead the day-to-day custodial care of Hillside Fellowship's campus, ensuring buildings and ministry spaces are consistently clean, safe, welcoming, and prepared to support ministry activities and events. This role provides day-to-day direction, quality assurance, and support for contracted custodial personnel and custodial volunteers while actively participating in custodial and campus-readiness responsibilities.
Working collaboratively with Facilities + IT staff, contractors, volunteers, and ministry teams, this role helps strengthen the overall care and readiness of Hillside's campus by coordinating custodial work, maintaining high standards of campus presentation, stewarding equipment and supplies, and responding to ministry needs with initiative, care, and consistent follow-through.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Campus Readiness + Custodial Care- Coordinate and actively participate in custodial care across Hillside’s buildings and immediate exterior campus areas, including cleaning, laundry, waste removal, and general campus presentation
- Develop and carry out daily and weekly custodial work plans that support the timely completion of responsibilities by contractors and volunteers
- Ensure buildings, restrooms, learning environments, worship spaces, offices, and common areas are consistently clean, safe, welcoming, and prepared for ministry use
- Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of exterior public areas, including entrances, sidewalks, patios, breezeways, and other high-visibility campus spaces
- Maintain exterior waste receptacles and help ensure building entrances remain clean and inviting
- Perform light exterior appearance tasks and communicate landscape, irrigation, or maintenance concerns to the appropriate staff member or service provider
- Provide day-to-day direction, communication, quality assurance, and accountability for contracted custodial personnel, serving as their primary on-site point of contact
- Coordinate and serve alongside custodial volunteers, providing clear assignments, practical support, and appropriate follow-through
- Communicate custodial priorities, schedules, expectations, and areas of responsibility to contractors and volunteers
- Review work completed by contractors and volunteers to ensure alignment with Hillside’s standards for cleanliness, safety, and campus presentation
- Identify opportunities to strengthen custodial workflows, improve efficiency, and promote consistency across custodial services
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings and campus areas to identify custodial needs and ensure established standards are consistently maintained
- Address immediate cleanliness or presentation concerns and coordinate appropriate follow-up when additional support is needed
- Monitor high-traffic and public-facing areas throughout the week, responding proactively to changing ministry and campus needs
- Help maintain a campus environment that reflects Hillside Fellowship’s commitment to warmth, welcome, stewardship, and excellence
- Identify facility maintenance concerns and submit or communicate them through the established facilities management process
- Coordinate custodial readiness, cleanup, and related support for weekend services, ministry events, meetings, and special activities
- Assist with setup, teardown, and cleanup responsibilities as needed to support ministry and churchwide events
