Position Overview This position is responsible for maintaining a structure inventory system which is comprised of plans of all state-maintained structures on the Illinois Highway System and for providing immediate reference, including updates, to bureau personnel and personnel from other agencies.
Essential Functions Maintains a structure plan inventory system in an efficient and orderly manner. Interprets the Service Bulletin to verify which contracts for lettings are structurally related. Provides an effective cross-referencing system for state-maintained structures. Maintains microfilm and structure inventory cross-referencing system. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS thirty months of engineering experience; OR Six years of engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications Ability to maintain a structure plan inventory system in an efficient and orderly manner. Ability to interpret the Service Bulletin to verify which contracts for lettings are structurally related. Ability to provide an effective cross-referencing system for state-maintained structures. Ability to maintain microfilm and structure inventory cross-referencing system. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
