Position: Extra Help Bike Technician

Hourly Rate: $17.00

Summary: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness, the Bike Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of all bicycles and related equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine upkeep including fixing flat tires, replacing and lubricating chains, tightening components, and completing minor mechanical repairs on standard bicycles.
  • Conduct general inspections and complete tune-ups on multiple bikes during scheduled work periods to ensure they are safe and functional.
  • Identify worn or damaged components and replace basic parts such as tubes and chains.
  • Clean and maintain bicycles to extend lifespan and keep the fleet in good working condition.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and ensure tools are properly stored and in working condition.

Minimum Qualifications: Basic knowledge of bicycle maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of bicycle maintenance, including tire repair and chain adjustments.
  • Ability to perform routine mechanical tasks using standard hand tools.
  • Ability to identify common maintenance issues such as worn tires, loose components, or chain wear.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure bicycles are safe and in working condition.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned maintenance tasks independently.
  • Basic organizational skills to manage tools, parts, and workspace.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
