- Work under the direction of the Senior Custodian performing regular duties of a Junior Building Custodian as it pertains to cleaning and upkeep of the school building and surrounding grounds.
- Perform daily cleaning of floors, walls, windows, toilets, furniture, cleaning and shampooing of carpets; stripping, waxing, and buffing of tile floors and other associated work.
- Perform work that requires the ability to climb ladders, heavy manual labor including emptying trash, shoveling snow, sanding, upkeep of outside grounds, lifting and moving furniture, moving supplies and equipment, and performing other related duties as requested.
- Deliver supplies.
- Prepare building for authorized events and approved permits.
- Limit access to building to authorized personnel or those attending an authorized event and approved permits.
- Provide quality customer service for building users.
- Lock doors, windows and sections of building; activate security alarms.
- Ensure nothing is removed from the building without permission from a supervisor, the School Principal, or a designated PBRM official.
- Report vandalism, mechanical malfunctions, broken windows, doors, and other building damage to a supervisor and/or the School Principal.
- Provide assistance to maintain safe and effective building operations.
- Perform upkeep such as changing light bulbs and replacing ceiling tiles.
- Keep grounds and entrance ways free from litter and debris.
- Provide assistance needed to maintain security in and around the building.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Dependable with the ability to maintain an effective working relationship with the Principal, school staff, City departments, public, contractors, and other building users.
- Strong organizational skills and interpersonal relations skills.
- Demonstrates effective and reliable work habits, including regular and punctual attendance, and shows a willingness to learn new work skills.
- Possession of a Driver’s License preferred.
- Must be a City of Springfield resident.
