Overview
Description Do you want to spend your summer serving your community while gaining valuable working experience? Come work for the City of Springfield’s Public Works Department! As a Seasonal Laborer, you will perform a variety of manual labor tasks associated with the maintenance, repair, construction, cleaning and operation of City infrastructure. The Traffic Controls division is responsible for the maintenance of all signs and markings in the City’s Right-of-Way, making the City safer.
The Public Grounds division is responsible for the maintenance and care of City right-of-ways, facility grounds and beautification projects; under this assignment, you would be assigned to the crew at the Hazelwood Cemetery. PLEASE NOTE – These positions will be 40 HOURS PER WEEK and work ONLY April 1st, 2026 through September 30th, 2026.
Experience, Education, and Training
- Experience in grounds, roads, and/or building construction or maintenance work.
Licensing/Certification
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
