position summarythe groundskeeper is responsible for the care of lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers. Major responsibilities include treating and removing ice and snow from sidewalks, entrances, steps and parking lots, maintaining equipment, and performing other duties as assigned.
responsibilities- mow and trim lawns in assigned areas.
- perform lawn maintenance such as reseeding and weed control.
- apply chemical feeding and pest control.
- remove ice and snow from walkways, steps and parking areas.
- keep campus areas, building entries, parking lots and lawns free of trash and debris.
- perform bending, squatting, climbing, twisting, kneeling, and reaching both to ground and overhead daily.
- report and correct safety hazards.
- exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- comply with college policies and procedures.
- attend college functions, serve on committees, and attend community events.
- provide routine care and maintenance for mowing equipment, trimmers, saws and hand tools.
- properly dispose of hazardous chemicals or waste.
- properly store and inventory supplies in assigned areas and notify supervisor of deficiencies.
- develop procedures for inventory control, note discrepancies and turn in all packing slips.
- attend employee in-service programs to improve work performance.
- high school diploma or equivalent.
- ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- ability to push and pull up to 150 lbs.
- valid driver’s license.
- ability to document and maintain appropriate records, logs and reports.
- ability to work well with others.
- strong oral and written communication skills.
- ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as microsoft office suite).
- two years of experience as a groundskeeper.
- national career readiness certificate.
- experience with colleague.
- experience working within a collegiate setting.

work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
