Shop Assistant

Overview

MLC is a leading global supplier of high-calcium lime products and technical solutions. The Shop Assistant supports terminal and shop operations by ensuring company equipment is clean, safe, operational, and ready for service while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Wash and clean tractors, trailers, shop vehicles, and equipment using power washers and approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, tractors, elevated work platforms, and shop vehicles to support daily operations.
  • Perform minor maintenance and basic repairs on equipment as needed.
  • Assist with loading and unloading pneumatic tanker trailers and operating commercial vehicles when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following environmental and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor equipment condition and support operational performance objectives and KPIs.
  • Work independently or collaboratively with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks.
  • Support shop, wash bay, and utility operations and perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment and tools used in wash bay and shop operations.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, noisy environments, and around cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and non-traditional hours as business needs require.
  • Commitment to following all safety policies and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in equipment washing, vehicle detailing, industrial cleaning, or shop operations.
  • Experience operating forklifts, commercial vehicles, or other industrial equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and experience performing minor equipment maintenance or repairs.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices, environmental compliance standards, and equipment care procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and proactive approach to completing tasks.
