General DescriptionThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring all assigned maintenance work and scheduled PM’s are completed in a timely fashion, under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.
Major Responsibilities and Tasks- Assist the work group in troubleshooting, operating, and maintaining production systems and facility systems including refrigeration equipment, boilers, fire systems, HVAC, wastewater, compressed air, vacuum pump, high‑voltage switch gear, and all production equipment. Lead root‑cause and lean exercises to improve production uptime and quality.
- Champion site safety objectives through leadership and effective communication. Assist Site Leadership and Safety Management Representative in implementing safety‑related projects, upgrades, or improvements. Promote a culture of absolute intolerance for unsafe situations within the maintenance team.
- Assist the work group to implement and monitor an effective preventive maintenance program and monitor the program on existing equipment and new acquisitions. Ensure work orders and assignments are completed on time by the maintenance department.
- Maintain strong human‑relations, communication, and leadership skills with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
- Direct, coordinate, and manage scheduled maintenance and machine changeovers in conjunction with production schedules.
- Assist the group in developing and meeting training needs and developing overall programs to upgrade operating and maintenance skills.
- Maintain dialogue with counterparts at other Dole facilities to share experiences and design proposals.
- Follow all food safety requirements and GMP guidelines.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a technical or maintenance role, preferably in food manufacturing or consumer goods industry.
- Strong technical skills.
- Knowledge of food processing and manufacturing technology.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance technologies and operation of utilities.
- Knowledge of food safety, regulatory requirements for food safety and hygienic engineering (OSH&R).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Knowledge of Asset and Maintenance Management (AMM) and Industrial Services and Energy Management (NEMT).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems/problems.
- Ability to report to work promptly and regularly, work under supervision, handle stressful conditions, meet deadlines, and work professionally with others at all times.
- Must be able to maneuver around equipment and bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders and/or stairs.
- Potential exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
- Must be able to work in a cold and wet environment.
- Ability to work various shifts as needed.
- Must work overtime and weekends.
