Assistant Custodian - Roosevelt

Assistant Custodian Position

The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Assistant Custodian for Roosevelt for the  school year. This position requires a high school diploma or the equivalent and train and/or experience which evidences a knowledge of custodial and basic maintenance techniques.

As a Assistant Custodian you will:

• Ensuring cleanliness of classrooms, offices, hallways, and steps and recycles materials according to the recycling program
• Cleaning restrooms and locker rooms daily and replenishing supplies
• Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs to facilities and custodial equipment including groundskeeping equipment
• Setting up and taking down special equipment for assemblies, special programs and other activities
• Operating necessary equipment to promote a clean, safe, and healthy environment
• Assisting in the cafeteria during lunch, and assisting in cleaning the kitchen
• Guarding property against fire, theft, and illegal entry and obeying all safety regulations at all times
• Providing security for buildings by attending to the physical plant during open hours and securing all doors, windows, and restricted areas during closed hours and responding to Sonitrol calls in the absence of the Head Custodian
• Closing the building by shutting off all lights, locking all doors and windows, and unlocking doors as required
• Performing a variety of tasks to the grounds surrounding the building including mowing, trimming shrubbery, removing snow and ice, picking up and emptying receptacles, etc.
• Lifting and moving equipment, furniture, supplies, or materials (e.g., weight up to 80 lbs, and distances up to 50 yards)

As a contracted employee, this position works 8 hours per day, 260 days per year. Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 11:00pm or as assigned. Starting salary is $20.41 per hour. All employees receive professional development and excellent competitive benefits!
