Assistant Custodian

The Springfield City School District is seeking a Assistant Custodian for Roosevelt for the  school year. This position requires a high school diploma or the equivalent and train and/or experience which evidences a knowledge of custodial and basic maintenance techniques. As a Assistant Custodian you will be responsible for ensuring cleanliness of classrooms, offices, hallways, and steps and recycling materials according to the recycling program.

You will also clean restrooms and locker rooms daily and replenish supplies, perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to facilities and custodial equipment including groundskeeping equipment, set up and take down special equipment for assemblies, special programs and other activities, operate necessary equipment to promote a clean, safe, and healthy environment, assist in the cafeteria during lunch, and assist in cleaning the kitchen.

Additionally, you will guard property against fire, theft, and illegal entry and obey all safety regulations at all times, provide security for buildings by attending to the physical plant during open hours and securing all doors, windows, and restricted areas during closed hours, respond to Sonitrol calls in the absence of the Head Custodian, close the building by shutting off all lights, locking all doors and windows, and unlocks doors as required, and perform a variety of tasks to the grounds surrounding the building including mowing, trimming shrubbery, removing snow and ice, picking up and emptying receptacles, etc.

You will also lift and move equipment, furniture, supplies, or materials (e.g., weight up to 80 lbs, and distances up to 50 yards).

As a contracted employee, this position works 8 hours per day, 260 days per year. Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 11:00pm or as assigned. Starting salary is $20.41 per hour. All employees receive professional development and excellent competitive benefits!
