Responsibilities
  • Assists in operating, maintaining and repairing all equipment that supplies the hospital complex with water, heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
  • Responds to routine and emergent service calls related to MEP systems, HVAC and building controls systems, and boiler and heating systems. Troubleshoots leaks and breakdowns.
  • Operates and maintains equipment such as air compressors, boilers, chillers, generators, pumping systems, medical air/vacuum systems, and reheat systems.
  • Cleans, lubricates, calibrates and adjusts all equipment according to preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Performs testing of water samples and adds water treatment to boilers, heating and cooling water systems.
  • Perform as required emergency generator tests and logs all results.
  • Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, ACM and other hazardous substances.
  • Fills out daily log sheets and daily round sheets. Submits paperwork to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assists the facilities management team in planning and implementation of new programs and processes.
  • Routinely requests supplies needed to fulfill daily responsibilities.
  • Works with building management software to control equipment and monitor systems.
  • Responds to medical equipment calls as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school or trade/vocational school graduate with 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Operations Engineer II (OE2), Unlimited Heating, Piping, and Cooling License, or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment required.
  • Ability to read blueprints, control schematics, technical manuals and specifications, as well as basic knowledge of all HVAC and mechanical systems/processes.
  • Large plant experience with high pressure steam and chilled water production required.
