Introduction
The State of Connecticut , Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) is currently recruiting a Custodian to work at J.M. Wright Technical High School located in Stamford, CT.
Position Highlights- Located at J.M. Wright Technical High School, in Stamford, CT
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Second (2nd) shift
- Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m.
- 10:00 p.m. - This is a year-round position
- Perform custodial tasks and maintenance of areas such as classrooms, offices, auditoriums, wards, kitchens, dining rooms and lavatories including outdoor areas (i.e. trash around buildings);
- Dust, mop, sweep, scrub, strip, wax and polish floors, shampoo carpets using appropriate equipment such as floor polishers and buffers;
- Wash, dust and polish glass including windows, woodwork, walls, furniture and metal equipment;
- Collect and dispose of all trash and recycling in the appropriate containers;
- Report needs for repairs;
- Perform minor maintenance;
- Inspect building for damage and report conditions to supervisor;
- Perform related duties as required.
CTECS serves approximately 11,200 full-time high school students. We have upgraded state-of-the-art classrooms and industry-standard equipment in every shop, giving students a well-rounded, 21st century education.

Preferred Qualifications- Experience performing custodial work in a school.
- Experience waxing and polishing floors using floor polishers and buffers.
- Experience removing snow and ice from stairways and walkways around schools or other large buildings.
- Experience with deep cleaning and disinfecting large facilities.
- Experience moving furniture in a school and setting up classrooms.
- Incumbents in this class may be required by the appointing authority to possess and retain appropriate current licenses, permits, and/or certifications.
- Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the class.
- A physical examination may be required.
Incumbents in this class may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights and may be exposed to risk of injury from equipment and/or individuals.
