This is a regular, full time position

MAJOR

ACCOUNTABILITIES /CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assists in operating, maintaining and repairing all equipment that supplies the hospital complex with, water, heating, ventilation and air conditioning,

* Responds to routine and emergent service calls as they relate to MEP systems, HVAC and building controls systems, and boiler and heating systems. Trouble shoots leaks and breakdowns.

* Operates and maintains equipment such as air compressors, boilers, chillers, generators, pumping systems, medical air/vacuum systems, reheat systems.

* Cleans, lubricates, calibrates and adjusts all equipment according to preventive maintenance schedules.

* Performs testing of water samples. Adds water treatment to boilers, heating and cooling water systems.

* Perform as required emergency generator tests and logs all results.

* Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, ACM and other hazardous substances.

* Fills out daily log sheets and daily round sheets. Submits this paperwork to the appropriate supervisor.

* Assists the facilities management team in the planning and implementation of new programs and processes.

* Routinely requests supplies needed to fulfill daily responsibilities.

* Works with building management software to control equipment and monitor systems.

* Responds to medical equipment calls as needed.

* Must be able to perform preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment to the manufacturers recommended specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

* High School or trade/vocational school graduate with 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in hospital or healthcare setting.

* Successful candidates must have the Operations Engineer II (OE2) or Unlimited Heating, Piping, and Cooling (S2) License, or have the ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.

* Ability to read blueprints, control schematics, technical manuals and specifications as well as basic knowledge of all HVAC and mechanical systems and processes required.

* Large plant experience with high pressure steam and chilled water production is required.
