SSA Scientific Safety Alliance (SSA) accelerates science by keeping controlled environments and precision instruments compliant, accurate, and ready. Calyx, the SSA operating company, serves the life sciences and biotech industries through Healthcare Technology Management, Clinical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering support.

We are hiring technicians to support Healthcare Technology Management, Clinical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering departments. The role emphasizes learning a precision technical trade, building relationships with customers, and following precise calibration procedures.

• Travel Monday through Thursday, returning home weekends (travel may occasionally include a Sunday, but this is rare).
• Spend one week per month at our State College office for rotation and training.
• Work side‑by‑side with experienced technicians to learn equipment operation, procedures, and customer relationships.
• Follow written calibration procedures with care and accuracy.
• Document work thoroughly to support compliance and continuity.
• Build trusted relationships with customers ranging from warehouse staff to biomedical engineers to directors.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math skills (percentages, measurements, unit conversions).
• Strong reading comprehension to follow detailed written instructions.
• Hands‑on technical aptitude from school, military, trade work, or a serious hobby.
• Willingness to travel approximately 3 weeks per month, Monday through Thursday, with weekends home.
• Comfortable wearing a sport jacket on customer sites — we provide your first two.
• Ability to provide vaccination records (Hepatitis B, MMR, Tuberculosis, Varicella, Influenza) or willingness to meet customer/vendor requirements.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

• Precision calibration of biomedical and laboratory equipment.
• Use of oscilloscopes, electronic analyzers, and electro‑mechanical instrumentation.
• Physics fundamentals used daily: electronics, physiological measurements, airflow, liquid flow, mass, dimensional, temperature, humidity, sound, light, and pressure.
• Writing and following calibration procedures and test methods.
• Effective communication with customers from technician to director level.
• Documentation and compliance standards in regulated environments.

• Backgrounds in electronics, engineering technology, instrumentation, biomedical equipment, or related technical fields (2‑year and 4‑year degrees both welcome).
• Military transitioners, especially those with electronics, calibration, or biomedical equipment experience.
• Trade school graduates in electronics, HVAC, instrumentation, or similar.
• Career changers with strong mechanical or electronic aptitude and a real desire to learn.
• Reliability, precision, curiosity, and comfort on the road.
