Position Overview

Western State Hospital is seeking a full-time Trades Tech IV Assistant Director to provide highly advanced supervision, training, and expert analyses of maintenance and construction systems; perform expert work and supervision which involves overseeing maintenance and construction in the installation, care, and repair of state facilities and equipment; oversee, supervise, inspect, schedules, assign, prioritize, and participate in general maintenance, electrical, HVAC, construction, and plumbing work to include preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance and repairs;

coordinate work assignments with other supervisors to ensure efficient use of resources; and provide technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation
  • Staff receive frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate
  • Recognize and report corrective maintenance (CM) to the work order control center and to perform corrective maintenance in accordance with the work order control system – TMS
  • Supervise or assist contractor or inspectors in performing equipment installations, repairs or inspections
  • Supervise and assist with snow and ice removal, disasters, disaster exercises or special events as directed by the supervisor
  • Prepare reports or estimates of work hours, materials and resources
  • Encourage vendors to obtain SWaM certification
  • Utilize TMS to create and maintain maintenance repair parts inventory
  • Purchase parts as needed to maintain inventory

Minimum Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in building and grounds work
  • Valid Operator’s License
  • Master Tradesman License
  • Experience in computer, purchasing procedures, and inventory control programs
Additional Considerations
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Trade or some college
  • Supervisory training and/or experience
  • Refrigerant Recovery Certification
  • Bilingual
  • Veteran or veteran spouse
