To provide academic support to students who are English Language Learners to help them transition to speaking, reading and writing the English language
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Position Type:
Elementary School Teaching/ ESL - Conduct assessments and identify students for the Program.
- Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of English Language Learners.
- Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and help the students make a satisfactory transition to a regular classroom.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve effective participation in all activities.
- Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records.
- Communicates with parents through a variety of means. Holds parent conferences to discuss the individual student's progress and interprets the school program.
- Communicates with classroom teachers regarding the Program and student information.
- Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Additional tasks as assigned.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY The role requires frequent walking and standing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment is generally stable, with minimal exposure to unusual temperatures, noise, or hazards. The position requires extended and non-traditional hours to fulfill job duties, as well as participation in organization-sponsored events and meetings.
