JOB SUMMARY:
The Library Aide assists and aids in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning library environment in which students and staff can take full advantage of materials available.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Be at least 20 years of age and show proof of one (1) of the following requirements:
Illinois Professional Educator License with Paraprofessional Endorsement
An Associate’s Degree or higher
60 semester hours of coursework
High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Para Pro test
High School Diploma or GED and sores of 4 in applied math and workplace documents on the ACT Work Keys test.
Knowledge of Follett Library System
Proficiency in typing
Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook
Experience working with children
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Order and receive books selected for purchases.
Shelve incoming books.
Maintain files of books, videos and tapes.
Concern herself/himself with overdue books and fines.
Make simple repairs on damaged books.
Monitor attendance in the library.
Ready books for reserve on staff request and maintain the reserve shelf.
Prepare current magazines for shelving and maintain the back issues.
Do an annual inventory of materials and preparation of list of missing books and books to be discarded.
Maintain the general appearance of the library and its displays.

Assist with planning and managing school book fair.
Any special duties requested by the Principal.
Follows the District Code of Ethics.
Adheres to the published policies and procedures of the District as published on the District Website.
Performs other duties as assigned such as but not limited to lunch and recess duty.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:
Ability to lift 25lbs.
Occasional sitting, standing, walking, talking, bending, lifting, and stooping required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature, noise, and hazards are relatively nonexistent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
180 days
6.5 hours per day
Twelve sick days per year
Four personal days per year
Vacation days as stated in Policy 5:330
At-will position
FLSA Non-Exempt
Starting hourly wage: $15/hour
EVALUATION:
Two evaluations will be conducted during the first year of employment (45 and 90 days).
After the probationary period, evaluations will be completed in accordance with administrative procedures.
