QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Valid Illinois PEL with School Psychologist Endorsement

Valid driver's license

SUMMARY:

To enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by promoting their sense of self and by treating any psychological or mental health problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Participates in problem solving team meetings as directed by supervisor.

* Acts as member of Crisis Intervention Team.

* Participates in consultative process as needed.

* Coordinates paperwork for initial evaluations and triennial evaluations.

* Participates in IEP meetings as needed.

* Prepares reports of school psychological evaluations.

* Participates in building meetings and special ed meetings as directed by supervisor.

* Assists in reviewing new evaluation materials.

* Maintains current knowledge of evaluation materials.

* Ensures that duties are performed within prescribed timelines.

* Maintains records according to District 194 Special Services policy and state and federal regulations.

* Participates in program development and staff in-services, workshops.

* Reviews current research and standards of profession through the reading of professional journals and publications.

* Researches projects as needs of the students and district dictate.

* Abides by professional standards as written by NASP.

* Participates in the screening of preschool aged children.

* Other duties as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak to customers and groups of employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations within district policy guidelines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and frequently works in inside environmental conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to video display and outdoors weather conditions and occasionally works with use of personal vehicle. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
