• Functions as part of the dialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Works in accordance with organization policies, procedures, and training, and complies with regulations set forth by the corporation, state, and federal agencies.
• Responsible for the set‑up and operation of hemodialysis machines, assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment, and support the organization’s commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

  Education:
  
  Assist other health care members in providing patient‑specific detailed education regarding adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM) and disease process/access.
• Treatment: Welcome assigned patients, inquire about their wellbeing, evaluate vascular access for patency, perform cannulation, administer heparin, obtain pre‑ and post‑treatment vital signs, and weight. Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders (blood flow, dialysate flow). Evaluate intradialytic problems, provide interventions, and monitor patient response.
• Discontinuation of Treatment: Discontinue dialysis according to established procedures, evaluate patient, apply hemostasis and dressings, and record all data.
• Documentation: Record vital signs, treatment parameters, and progress notes on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet. Report significant changes to the registered nurse or supervisor.
• Machine Safety and Maintenance: Observe patients, conduct machine safety checks, prepare laboratory specimens, clean blood spills, and manage supplies to prevent wastage.
• Staff Training: Assist in training direct‑patient‑care staff under the supervision of a nurse.
• Infection Control: Assist in audits, support infection control practices, and reinforce education for patients and families.
• Transitional Care Unit: Follow newly admitted patients through their first four weeks of dialysis, coordinate education and care, liaise with FKC staff, and assist with supply ordering and inventory.

The position requires desk and computer work, interaction with patients, facility staff, and physicians, travel between facilities, and direct patient care involving heavy lifting and patient ambulation. Daily tasks include standing, bending, lifting (up to 30 lbs. frequently; up to 40 lbs. occasionally), and using two‑person assist programs or equipment for heavier items.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must meet CMS‑approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline.
• All required state licensure, education, and training (if any) must be held.

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.
• Successful completion of the organization’s dialysis training program and CPR certification required for continued employment.

Hourly Rate: $17 – $27.
