What We are Looking For:

Bender Companies is seeking a skilled and dedicated Apartment Maintenance Technician to join our team at our community in Steger . The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional who takes pride in their work and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

To succeed in this role, you should possess strong troubleshooting abilities, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues. The right candidate will be self-motivated, organized, and able to follow direction while also working independently when needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21-$23 per hour

Schedule :

  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

  • Reliable transportation to get to work
  • 1+ year of experience in apartment maintenance, facilities, or residential construction
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with residents, vendors, and team members
  • Familiarity with basic repairs including plumbing, electrical, HVAC troubleshooting, and appliance maintenance
  • Ability to work independently, follow directions, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

What you will be doing:

As a Maintenance Technician at Bender Companies, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations and overall upkeep of the community. You will be responsible for ensuring that all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standard.

In this role, you will collaborate with the maintenance team to address service requests, perform preventative maintenance, and contribute to creating a well-maintained, comfortable living environment for our residents.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Perform routine property inspections to identify and address maintenance issues proactively
  • Complete resident service requests and work orders promptly and professionally
  • Maintain property grounds by removing trash, leaves, branches, and other debris to keep common areas clean and attractive
  • Support the completion of unit turnovers and make-readies, including painting, repairs, and cleaning as needed
  • Assist in preventative maintenance efforts to extend the life of property systems and equipment
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards, building codes, and company policies
  • Deliver notices and communications to residents as directed by management
  • Participate in an on-call schedule for after-hours maintenance emergencies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
