Job Summary
The Facilities & Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operation, safety, and continuous improvement of the company’s facility, equipment, and infrastructure. This role ensures that manufacturing equipment, building systems, utilities, and grounds are maintained in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner to support uninterrupted operations. The Facilities & Maintenance Lead serves as the primary point of contact for facility-related issues, preventive maintenance planning, contractor coordination, compliance activities, and capital improvement projects.
This position requires strong technical knowledge, leadership, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to facility management.
- Lead all facility maintenance activities, including building systems, utilities, grounds, and manufacturing support equipment.
- Ensure facility infrastructure remains operational, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, compressed air, lighting, security systems, and general building maintenance.
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on facility systems and manufacturing equipment as needed.
- Monitor facility conditions and proactively address maintenance concerns before operational disruptions occur.
- Coordinate routine inspections and upkeep of roofs, parking areas, loading docks, offices, breakrooms, restrooms, and production spaces.
- Maintain facility cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness.
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs for manufacturing machinery, support equipment, and facility infrastructure.
- Partner with production teams to schedule maintenance activities that minimize operational downtime.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs, replacements, or vendor support when necessary.
- Maintain maintenance documentation, service logs, inspection records, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Assist with machine installation, relocation, upgrades, and decommissioning activities.
- Dismantle, adjust, repair, and assemble equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches, or drawings/schematics.
- Serve as the primary contact for outside service providers, contractors, and equipment vendors.
- Coordinate contractor scheduling, on-site work, safety compliance, and project execution.
- Obtain quotes, manage service agreements, and assist with vendor selection for maintenance and facility‑related projects.
- Ensure contractor work meets company standards, timelines, and safety expectations.
- Conduct regular facility safety inspections and identify corrective actions.
- Coordinate inspections for fire suppression systems, alarms, emergency lighting, eyewash stations, and other safety equipment.
- Ensure lockout/tagout procedures, maintenance safety practices, and facility standards are consistently followed.
- Assist with emergency preparedness planning and facility response coordination.
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies, spare parts, tools, and facility consumables.
- Track maintenance expenditures and assist with budget planning for repairs, upgrades, and capital improvements.
- Recommend cost‑saving opportunities through preventive maintenance, energy efficiency, and vendor management.
- Serve as the facility maintenance lead and point person for daily operational issues.
- Prioritize maintenance requests and coordinate workload effectively.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to facility efficiency, equipment uptime, and workplace safety.
- Provide guidance and training to maintenance staff or cross‑functional team members as needed.
- Participate in facility expansion, renovation, and improvement projects.
- May be required to work overtime or be on‑call.
- May require forklift certification.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- 5+ years of facility maintenance, industrial maintenance, or manufacturing maintenance experience.
