Re-1 Valley School District is looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Part-Time Custodian to join our team. This position plays an important role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and community.

Part-Time, Year-Round (approximately 15-20 hours per week, flexible schedule, afternoon/evening preferred)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Re-1 Valley School District is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and self-motivated Part-Time Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys supporting schools, and values being part of a close-knit rural community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
* Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces.
* Empty trash and recycling containers.
* Replenish restroom and custodial supplies.
* Assist with setup and cleanup for school events and activities.
* Monitor the building for maintenance or safety concerns and report issues promptly.
* Perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned.
* Ensure building security by locking doors and securing facilities at the end of shifts.
* Operate custodial equipment safely and effectively.
* Follow district safety procedures and cleaning protocols.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED preferred.
* Previous custodial, maintenance, or cleaning experience preferred but not required.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong attention to detail and reliability.
* Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
* Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
* Must successfully complete required background checks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Basic understanding of cleaning methods and equipment.
* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
* Strong work ethic and dependability.
* Ability to interact positively with students, staff, and community members.
* Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean educational environment.
Physical Requirements
* Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and climbing.
* Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and equipment.
* Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

* Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures.
* Frequent lifting, bending, standing, and walking.
* Occasional evening or weekend work for special events.
