Re‑1 Valley School District is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and self‑motivated part‑time custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Position Details

  • Salary: Starting at $16.79/hour on Classified Hourly Schedule
  • FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt
  • Work Calendar: Part‑Time, Year‑Round (approximately 15‑20 hours per week, flexible schedule, afternoon/evening preferred)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers.
  • Replenish restroom and custodial supplies.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup for school events and activities.
  • Monitor the building for maintenance or safety concerns and report issues promptly.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Ensure building security by locking doors and securing facilities at the end of shifts.
  • Operate custodial equipment safely and effectively.
  • Follow district safety procedures and cleaning protocols.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous custodial, maintenance, or cleaning experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Must successfully complete required background checks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic understanding of cleaning methods and equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong work ethic and dependability.
  • Ability to interact positively with students, staff, and community members.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean educational environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and climbing.
  • Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, standing, and walking.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work for special events.
