Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
About the Role
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) to join our Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team. In this role, you will be on the front lines of maintaining the critical infrastructure that powers AWS cloud services globally. You will monitor, operate, and maintain the electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems that keep our data centers running % uptime.
WhatYou'll Do
As a DCEO Technician, you will monitor and respond to alarms across power, cooling, and life safety systems in a 24x7 operational environment. You will perform front-line troubleshooting and minor maintenance on critical auxiliary equipment, including Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), air handling units (AHU), and computer room air handling units (CRAHU). You will also manage and coordinate vendor activities, update building management systems (BMS) and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS), and contribute to continuous improvement of data center operations.
You will work rotating 12-hour shifts (day and night) as part of a team that includes fellow EOTs, Chief Engineers, and a Facility Manager, ensuring seamless handoffs and consistent operational coverage.
Basic Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in electrical, mechanical, or facilities maintenance
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to lift up to 49 lbs and work in environments with varying temperatures and noise levels
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems in a commercial or industrial setting
- 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, or 1+ years of data center or mission critical facilities (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.) experience
- High school or equivalent diploma
- Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or HVAC systems
- Experience working in a data center, critical facility, or industrial environment
- Knowledge of power distribution systems, cooling systems, and life safety equipment
- Experience with Building Management Systems or Electrical Power Monitoring Systems
- Familiarity with change management processes and standard operating procedures
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- 2+ years of data center engineering experience
