Job Overview

Washington County is currently hiring for a Custodian. Staff may be assigned Monday through Friday to different county facilities based on need. Must be self‑motivated, able to drive a county vehicle between buildings, and comfortable working in a jail setting with a Corrections Officer present. Weekends will be spent supporting libraries throughout Washington County.

• Experience in delivering consistent and excellent customer service
• Experience with custodial work in a commercial building or manufacture building

Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted, and the top‑scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

- 6:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. OR Weekends (Saturday & Sunday 9:00 a.m.

- 5:30 p.m.) required with weekday schedule negotiable. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.

$20.32 - $23.98 Hourly

Washington County participates in the federal E-Verify program. The Custodian performs a variety of overall custodial maintenance tasks required to ensure the cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and security of County facilities.

• Minimum Qualifications:
  
  This position requires a high school diploma, or equivalent. Individuals operating a motor vehicle for County business must possess a valid driver's license.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  
  Custodial work experience in commercial buildings and building cleaning techniques coursework is highly desirable. Growth through internal opportunities is available.

• Clean, disinfect, and re‑supply restrooms; gather and empty trash; clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing; clean furniture and fixtures; dust surfaces, clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors; vacuum and extract carpets; strip, seal and finish floors, etc.
• Set up, arrange and move tables, chairs, equipment, etc. for meetings and other events.
• Perform preventive maintenance service on assigned maintenance equipment.
• Update usage reports for maintenance and inventory control.
• Complete forms, logs, and other documentation as required.
• Inspect and perform ground maintenance to include picking up debris, sweeping sidewalks, and entry points.
• Perform snow and ice control tasks to include the operation of motorized equipment.
• Monitor supply levels and order supplies as needed.
• Perform a variety of minor maintenance tasks as needed.
• Prepare supplies and work order requests.
• Locate and transport supplies and materials as needed.

• Ensure outside and inside doors are locked.
• Set security systems in designated buildings.
