Environmental Services & Laundry Manager
The Environmental Services & Laundry Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, organization, and daily operation of the Environmental Services and Laundry Departments at Park Springs. This position ensures that member residences, common areas, offices, public spaces, and other assigned areas are maintained at the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, appearance, and safety while ensuring efficient and reliable laundry and linen services throughout the community.
The Manager provides leadership and direction to Environmental Services Supervisors, House Stewards, Laundry Technicians, Sanitation Technicians, and other assigned employees. This position is responsible for departmental staffing, scheduling, training, performance management, quality assurance, inspections, infection prevention, laundry operations, linen management, supplies, equipment, vendor relationships, budget oversight, and continuous improvement. The Environmental Services & Laundry Manager maintains a visible presence throughout the community, develops positive relationships with members and employees, responds promptly to service concerns, and works collaboratively with other departments to maintain the cleanliness, comfort, safety, and overall appearance of Park Springs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Environmental Services and Laundry Departments.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to Environmental Services Supervisors and frontline employees.
- Ensure adequate staffing and appropriate scheduling based on occupancy, workload, special events, member needs, and departmental priorities.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, evaluating, coaching, and performance management of Environmental Services and Laundry employees.
- Ensure member residences, common areas, offices, restrooms, corridors, elevators, meeting spaces, and other assigned areas are maintained according to established cleanliness standards.
- Conduct routine inspections of member residences, common areas, and employee work to verify quality and consistency.
- Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Park Springs Laundry Department, ensuring efficient, safe, and timely processing of linens and other assigned laundry.
- Ensure employees follow established infection prevention and sanitation procedures.
- Maintain departmental compliance with OSHA requirements, infection control practices, community policies, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop and manage the Environmental Services and Laundry operating budget in collaboration with leadership.
- Monitor departmental expenses, labor costs, overtime, supplies, linen replacement, and equipment expenditures.
- Promote teamwork, employee engagement, and a positive work environment.
- Identify opportunities to improve laundry processes, productivity, quality, safety, and cost effectiveness.
- Coordinate with Environmental Services, Dining Services, Home Care, Wellness, Assisted Living, and other departments regarding linen and laundry needs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Environmental Services, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of three years of Environmental Services, housekeeping, laundry, hospitality, or facilities-related experience required.
- Previous supervisory or management experience required.
- Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, long-term care, or a similar service-oriented environment strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of housekeeping and commercial laundry procedures, sanitation standards, infection prevention practices, cleaning chemicals, linen management, and equipment.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements, blood borne pathogen precautions, chemical safety, and appropriate PPE practices.
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to train, coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to develop and manage employee schedules and departmental workloads.
- Basic knowledge of budgeting, purchasing, inventory management, labor management, and vendor relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with older adults, families, employees, vendors, and leadership.
- Proficiency with computers and standard business applications.
- Must demonstrate discretion and maintain member confidentiality at all times.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods while conducting inspections and supervising departmental operations.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and perform other movements associated with Environmental Services and Laundry operations.
