Maintenance and Custodial Technician
The Maintenance and Custodial Technician is a hands-on position responsible for maintaining safe, functional, clean, and well-maintained facilities throughout SEEM Educational Collaborative. The position performs routine building maintenance and repairs, preventive maintenance, daytime custodial support, facility setups, and general building support.
SEEM utilizes an outside contractor for routine nighttime cleaning services. The Technician addresses custodial needs that arise during the workday and provides additional cleaning coverage when necessary. As SEEM's primary hands-on maintenance and custodial employee, the Technician works independently to identify and address day-to-day facility needs and coordinates with outside vendors and contractors when specialized expertise is required.
This position does not supervise other employees and does not require any trade licenses or professional certifications.

Director of Finance and Operations and Assistant Business Manager
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous custodial, maintenance, building operations, construction, or related experience preferred; experience in an educational, municipal, healthcare, or similar environment is desirable.
- Working knowledge of general cleaning, routine building repairs, and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and other building systems preferred.
- Ability to identify building and equipment problems and determine when an outside contractor or specialized service provider is needed.
- Experience working with outside vendors and contractors is desirable.
- Basic computer skills, including email and electronic work-order or maintenance tracking systems.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required due to travel between SEEM locations.
- No trade licenses or professional certifications are required for this position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The Maintenance and Custodial Technician should possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to:
- Monitor the cleanliness and condition of SEEM facilities during the workday and address custodial needs as they arise.
- Perform cleaning and sanitation as needed in classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, entrances, and common areas, including spills, accidents, emergency cleaning, trash removal, and replenishment of restroom supplies.
- Provide necessary custodial coverage when contracted nighttime cleaning services are unavailable or incomplete and communicate concerns regarding contracted cleaning services to the appropriate administrator.
- Maintain appropriate inventories of cleaning supplies, paper products, and custodial materials and ensure products are properly labeled, stored, and used.
- Assist with setup and cleanup for meetings, school activities, professional development, special events, and other functions.
- Perform routine facility inspections and complete routine maintenance and repairs throughout SEEM facilities.
- Change light bulbs, ceiling tiles, filters, and other routine building components; address basic plumbing issues; perform minor carpentry, painting, patching, furniture assembly, and general repairs.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of building systems and equipment within the employee's knowledge and capabilities.
- Identify problems requiring specialized expertise, licensed professionals, or significant repair and report them promptly.
- Respond to maintenance requests and coordinate building access for outside contractors and service technicians as requested.
