Job Title: Transport, Maintenance Assistant & Floor Technician
Department: Environmental Services / Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Director of Facilities
Location: Long-Term Care Facility
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and compassionate Transport, Maintenance Assistant & Floor Technician to join our long‑term care team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff. The successful candidate will assist with resident transportation, perform general maintenance duties, and provide specialized floor care services throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities Transportation Duties- Safely transport residents to and from appointments, activities, and designated areas within and outside the facility.
- Assist residents with mobility needs while maintaining dignity and respect.
- Ensure facility vehicles are clean, fueled, and maintained in a safe operating condition.
- Complete transportation logs and documentation as required.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs, including painting, basic plumbing, carpentry, and equipment repairs.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders.
- Conduct regular inspections of building systems and report safety concerns.
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Support emergency preparedness and facility safety initiatives.
- Operate floor care equipment including buffers, burnishers, scrubbers, and carpet extractors.
- Strip, wax, seal, and polish various flooring surfaces.
- Maintain carpets through vacuuming, spot cleaning, and extraction.
- Follow infection prevention and safety protocols while performing floor care tasks.
- Ensure floors remain clean, safe, and free from hazards.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in transportation, maintenance, environmental services, or floor care preferred.
- Knowledge of floor care equipment and cleaning chemicals is an asset.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
