Manufacturing Engineer
Pelton Shepherd Industries is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to design, optimize, and improve manufacturing processes and systems. This role focuses on increasing efficiency, quality, safety, and automation while reducing costs. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, project leadership experience, and a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
Position OverviewThe Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for developing and improving manufacturing processes, layouts, and equipment. This role leads process improvement and automation initiatives, manages engineering projects, and collaborates cross‑functionally with production, quality, R&D, and operations teams to meet production and business goals.
Key Responsibilities- Design, optimize, and improve manufacturing processes, layouts, and workflows
- Develop and integrate manufacturing automation, robotics, and automated systems
- Troubleshoot and support automation hardware including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, relays, and VFDs
- Design and recommend tools, machinery, and equipment; oversee installation and commissioning
- Analyze production and process data to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and root causes
- Lead process improvement and engineering projects, including cost estimation and progress tracking
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, and GMP design requirements
- Collaborate with production, quality, R&D, operations, and external vendors
- Create and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, and process reports
- Identify and implement cost‑reduction opportunities without compromising quality or safety
- Stay current on manufacturing technologies, automation, and industry best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in process or manufacturing engineering
- Experience in manufacturing, food processing, or cold storage environments is a plus
- Experience with manufacturing automation and robotics integration
- Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, relays, and VFDs
- Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD or similar)
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies (Green Belt a plus)
- Familiarity with process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen, MATLAB) preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams
- Attention to detail with cost and budget awareness
- Prolonged periods of sitting and
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally
- Ability to access all areas of the manufacturing facility and interact with equipment
