LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a growing organization, and they are seeking a motivated Mechanical Designer – Industrial Equipment / Heavy Machinery / Conveyor Systems to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, custom-engineered equipment in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where innovation and precision are critical. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced designer who thrives in a hands‑on environment and enjoys bringing concepts to life—from initial design through production release—while partnering cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.
The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for developing detailed design solutions that support the production of engineered equipment. This individual will play a key role in creating accurate CAD models and drawings, managing design documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the product lifecycle. This role requires a strong understanding of sheet metal design, heavy equipment, or conveyor systems, along with the ability to translate engineering concepts into manufacturable designs.
Key Responsibilities- Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and related CAD tools.
- Design mechanical systems and components based on engineering requirements, specifications, and project scope.
- Develop and maintain standardized design libraries to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Generate comprehensive design documentation including bills of materials (BOMs), assembly layouts, and fabrication drawings.
- Manage revision control and maintain accurate, up-to-date design documentation throughout project life cycles.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, production, and purchasing teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
- Support production by troubleshooting design‑related issues and implementing design improvements as needed.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous process and product improvements.
- Ensure alignment with internal standards, quality requirements, and customer specifications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within manufacturing, heavy equipment, or conveyor systems.
- Strong proficiency with Autodesk Inventor.
- Hands‑on experience with sheet metal design and/or heavy mechanical assemblies.
- Proven ability to create detailed manufacturing drawings, layouts, and BOMs.
- Solid understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) principles and drafting standards.
- Experience managing design revisions and engineering documentation in a structured environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with welded assemblies and fabrication processes.
- Working knowledge of Excel and iLogic for design automation and data management.
- Exposure to ERP or PLM systems is a plus.
