Position Overview

The Electrician works closely with the Plant Electrical Engineer and performs a variety of electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance, repair and/or distribution of electrical energy. Installs, maintains, and replaces electronic programmable controllers for the use in the manufacture of aluminum cans.

Minimum Requirements
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify root causes (e.g. six sigma analysis) and propose and implement remedies.
  • Ability to work off shifts (afternoons and midnights) and overtime, as necessary. Must be able to work in varying temperatures and climates.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on occasion and regularly stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. This position may also require climbing or balancing.
  • Effective and proven communication skills (both written and verbal) working in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
  • Effective record keeping skills and the ability to focus on details.
Preferred Requirements
  • AS Electrical Engineering preferred, but not required.
  • Journeyman license preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 3+ year’s industrial electrical/programming experience or two-year technical degree strongly preferred.
Competencies
  • Problem solving skills through an individual and/or collaborative approach.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds.
  • Highly motivated, self‑directed, worker that can work autonomously in a fast paced and often loud production environment.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures is required (e.g. lockout / tagout, low voltage electrical to 480V AC).
  • PLC programming required;
    Multiple platforms such as Allen Bradley PLC5, Control Logix, HMI, and Servo Drive programming and troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify root causes (e.g. six sigma analysis) and propose and implement remedies.
  • Strong computer skills required;
    Microsoft Office proficiency as well as Computerized Maintenance Management Systems experience preferred.
  • Experience in computer networking (routers, Ethernet, switches, etc.) preferred.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting experience in high speed packaging and/or highly automated continuous process environment preferred.
  • Ability to work off shifts (afternoons and midnights) and overtime, as necessary. Must be able to work in varying temperatures and climates.
  • Ability to listen, follow directions and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to manage time and work independently or with other team members.
  • Ability to assume additional job duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Must have working knowledge of current electrical codes.
