Parks Maintenance Worker

The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker in the Parks and Recreation Department. You will be paid a starting salary of $46,259 – $53,206 depending on qualifications and experience, with full benefits available from Day 1.

• Perform labor tasks required for the operations and maintenance of parks and recreation facilities (e.g., irrigation repairs, minor plumbing repair, minor construction, and cleaning)
• Operate light equipment, drive trucks and use common hand tools (e.g., City vehicles, auger, front end loader, backhoe, electric power tools)
• Perform light maintenance on equipment and vehicles to ensure they are safe, clean and ready for everyday use
• Complete assigned work orders
• Conduct yard and facility maintenance and cleaning
• Work overtime and be on call as required
• Maintain regular on‑site attendance as an essential function of the position
• Remain on duty as an essential employee before, during and after emergency or disaster situations
• Stay abreast of and comply with all City and departmental policies and procedures
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director or their designee

• High school education or GED

• One year of related experience (preferred)
• Experience in welding (preferred but not required)

• Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License
