Anticipated Custodian I - 3rd Shift (CM)
Township High School District 214 is seeking a dedicated staff member to fill the Anticipated Custodian I - 3rd Shift (CM) position at Buffalo Grove High School. This role requires 40 hours per week and begins December 12, 2025.
Position Type: Custodial/Maintenance/Central Maintenance
Location: Buffalo Grove High School
Assignment: 12‑Month
Salary: CMS
13 Grade I, Step 1, $23.29 per hour (See CMA agreement for schedule)
Perform general custodial duties for the custody and care of the facility to provide a safe, secure, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient educational environment to meet the needs of students, staff, and the general public. This includes cleaning, moving student equipment, setting up for programs and activities, and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications- Maintained regular attendance with no occurrences of attendance abuse during the previous two years as described in Article 13 Section E of the current agreement.
- Effective verbal and written communication with students, staff, and the general public, exhibiting patience and understanding.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Use prescribed safety and personal protective equipment.
- Lifts up to 40 lbs. frequently and up to 80 lbs. occasionally.
- Perform difficult physical labor in variable weather (hot, cold, rain, snow, wind).
- Climb stairs and ladders frequently, work from scaffolding and lifts occasionally.
- Stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach while performing various assignments and operating related equipment.
- Maintain knowledge, skills, and physical ability for moving school equipment and setting up/breaking down programs and activities.
- Operate cleaning equipment (manual and mechanized) and clean/sanitize assigned areas.
- Monitor and operate basic building systems and related equipment.
- Observe and comply with required codes.
- Report potential trouble spots in building systems to prevent failures.
- Perform snow removal and salting when needed.
- Complete tasks within appropriate time frames.
- Identify and remedy potential safety and health problems.
- Project a positive image of the District.
- Report to supervisor any misuses or needed repairs to school property.
- Participate in District‑sponsored training programs to maintain knowledge, skills, certifications, and licenses.
- Communicate and respond appropriately to electronic communication.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
