Location

Royal Oaks Retirement Community, 10015 W. Royal Oak Road, Sun City, AZ 85351. Cross streets are 99th and Grand Avenue.

Schedule

Full Time:
Tuesday-Saturday 7:00am-3:30pm.

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, perform a combination of light cleaning duties to maintain cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of our facility. Operate washing machines to wash commercial, industrial, or household articles.

Brief Overview of Major Duties
  • Cleans garden, assisted living homes, apartments, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
  • Empties wastebaskets and transports trash and infectious waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, and polishes floors using brooms and mops.
  • Dusts and polishes furniture and equipment.
  • Keeps storage areas and carts well stocked, clean, and organized.
  • Replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand cleaners/soap.
  • Sorts clothing and other articles, loads washing machines, irons, and folds dried items.
  • Washes windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as needed.
  • Observes precautions required to protect residents’ property and reports damage, theft, and found articles to supervisor.
  • Reports building or equipment repairs to the maintenance department.
  • Performs many varied housekeeping tasks related to the upkeep of the facility, attends all meetings as required, and assists other departments as needed.
  • May need to operate or drive a golf cart to transport supplies or employees around campus.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of custodial, housekeeping, laundry operations, and floor care.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Organized, able to multi‑task, think creatively, and adapt to different situations.
  • Preferably knowledgeable on using an iPad; training will be provided.
  • Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.
  • Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests.
Education and Experience
  • Preferably a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferably one year of experience in custodial, housekeeping, or other related work.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or ability to apply within 20 days of hire.
  • If driving duties apply, current, valid driver’s license; driving record must meet insurance carrier criteria.
  • If applicable, Certificate of Completion for memory care services training within 30 days of hire and compliance with annual certification requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to carry, lift, push, pull up to 25 pounds.
  • May need to operate a fire extinguisher.
  • Ability to assist in evacuation procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Physical: climbing, kneeling, lifting/moving, carrying/transporting, walking/traversing, standing, bending, reaching forward and above shoulder level, pushing, pulling, fine manipulation (pen, mouse), gross manipulation, twisting, stooping.
  • Cognitive: oral and written communication, work under time constraints, concentration amid distractions, ensure accuracy of details, recall names and details, problem solve, work rapidly, observe details, analytical ability, minimal errors, reasoning.
  • Environmental: inside, outside, toxic or caustic chemicals, dirty, odors, fumes, working with others or alone, dusty.
