Position Title

26-27 Residence Hall Student Custodian

Job Summary

The major responsibilities and expectations of the Student Custodian are listed below. Other duties may be assigned when appropriate.

Standard of Work

The Residence Life Department maintains high standards of quality and efficiency. Tasks must be completed professionally and timely to satisfy supervisors, managers, and administrative staff.

Responsibilities
  • Vacuuming
  • Mopping
  • Sweeping
  • Shoveling snow
  • Wiping down surfaces
  • Taking out garbage
  • Cleaning public areas (kitchen, lounges, laundry rooms)
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor
Conduct and Attire
  • Wear shoes with covered toes at all times
  • Refrain from using phones during work hours unless contacting Custodial Supervisor or for work purposes
Time Off and Tardiness
  • Time off must be approved by the building custodial supervisor in advance
  • Failure to report to work without calling for two consecutive days or a total of three days may result in contract termination
  • Four-week probationary period follows staff training and orientation; failure to meet standards may result in termination
Remuneration

Pay is $13 per hour with approximately 10 hours per week of work, including required weekend work. Schedules are determined with the Building Custodial Supervisor, Hall Manager, or Director of Residence Life.
