Utility Technician, Maintenance Worker
SUMMARY
Incumbents perform technical duties locating and marking underground City utilities, such as water, reclaimed/effluent, and sewer lines and IT fiber in public rights-of-ways and easements using a variety of utility maps, as-built plans, blueprints, sketches, construction plans, GIS systems, and other computer mapping systems. Incumbents operate and train others in the use of equipment and machinery, and perform quality control activities.
Incumbents may perform as lead workers and provide daily work assignments, review completed work, serve as resources to other workers, and track equipment and inventory.
High school diploma or GED, and two years of utility locating experience. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona Driver License.
SELECTION PROCESSApplicants whose education, training and experience most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include a panel interview.
