Summary
:
Maintain an attractive, safe, clean, and secure school, related buildings, and adjacent grounds for students, staff, and the public.
- Maintain and cares for district grounds.
- Cultivate soil as needed and plants seeds, trees and shrubbery under the direction of the Plant Manager.
- Prune trees and trims hedges to promote growth and improve appearance of grounds.
- Mow lawns and edges sidewalks with appropriate equipment.
- Fill with soil, gopher holes and any other uneven and hazardous areas of the grounds.
- Fertilize trees and shrubs on a regular semiannual basis.
- Report promptly major repairs needed on grounds equipment to supervisor.
- Connect and depose of leaves, chippings and refuse.
- Connect sprinkling equipment.
- Inspect shrubs and trees for evidence of disease or pests and treats with sprays or chemicals as needed.
- Maintain and recommends purchases of suitable supplies, tools and equipment used in maintaining grounds.
- Adjust and repairs such equipment as lawnmowers, sprinklers, and hedge shears.
- Plant seeds, bulbs, tree seedlings, and shrubbery so that resulting growth will produce an attractive appearance.
- Assist with facility maintenance as needed.
- Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
- Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Minimum Experience: Three (3) or more years of experience in grounds maintenance work.
- Licensing: Obtain and maintain valid Level I Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
- Knowledge of: Techniques and methods for organizing and prioritizing work; standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work; standard system functions; project management principles; safety practices; cleaning, sanitation, and health standards; applicable laws and regulations; customer service principles; specialized equipment; modern office technology.
- Skill in: Organizing tasks, meeting deadlines, prioritizing, attention to detail, operating tools and equipment, customer service, computer usage, and communication with coworkers, supervisors, the public and others.
- ADA and Other Requirements: Positions require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Working Conditions
:
Work is mainly performed in an indoor environment; moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions; moderate exposure to hazardous materials; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, movement restrictions and intense noise.
