** STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
** Incumbent will create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment to ensure the holistic development of each student and staff member through cultural, social, spiritual, physical and academic experience. Incumbent will support the Bureau of Indian Education’s mission, which is to provide high quality education opportunities from early childhood through life while considering a tribe’s need for cultural and economic well-being.

In performing this mission, the BIE takes into account the spiritual, mental, physical, and cultural aspects of school-aged children within their family and tribal community. To meet its trust responsibility to Indian Tribes, BIE works to strengthen education opportunities for American Indian students to be successful and competitive globally; to enhance student participation in their tribal communities; and support tribes in nation-building, in development of the next generation of tribal leaders.

Responsibilities:
• Reports any equipment and systems abnormalities and hazards immediately to the Principal.  
• Reviews work order assignments. Discusses specific work requests with the ERC Facility Manager, as needed, making sure orders have been written and approved before performing tasks, except in emergency situations. Completes work assigned.  
• Maintains the physical facilities of the school by performing a wide variety of general upkeep and repair tasks, including but not limited to replacing light bulbs, ceiling and floor tile replacement, roof and drain cleaning, servicing lock and hardware devices, replacing window screens, wall repairs including patching and painting, boarding up and replacement of broken or damaged windows/doors, and other minor repairs to floors, walls, and ceilings, etc.

• Respond to malfunctions of oil and propane fired furnaces and boilers, complete inspections, cleaning and adjustment of all burner units, services and/or repairs furnaces and boilers, checking operation of thermostats, valves, pilot lights and safety devices.  
• Replaces electrical switches, receptacles and other fixtures.  
• Repairs cement, asbestos, copper, galvanized, black and plastic water lines, sewer lines, traps, electric water heaters and safety valves. Repairs and services traps and strainers. Assists in cleaning clogged sewer lines.
