Custodian

SCHEDULE:

Full-time, weekdays, second shift

$15.50 per hour

2777 Route 11, Lafayette, NY

A high school diploma or GED. Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment and safety procedures commonly used in custodial work. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more occasionally and perform a variety of routine custodial tasks which include bending, climbing and walking. Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing repairs is desirable. Current NYS driver license is desirable.

• Scrub, mop, wax, sweep, polish or vacuum classroom, offices and hallways as appropriate on a daily basis. Shampoo carpets when needed.
• Dust, polish furniture, wash windows, blinds, woodwork. Wash and sanitize toilets, washrooms, and bathroom fixtures daily.
• Refill soap, toilet tissue and paper towel dispensers; to collect and dispose of paper and rubbish daily.
• Periodically clean and wash high areas including ceiling light fixtures, room ventilation apparatus, walls, and wastebaskets. Paint walls and/or ceilings on an as needed basis.
• Move desks, chairs and other furniture and equipment as directed; to prepare facilities for organizational activities and special events.
• Load and unload delivery trucks, transport supplies to proper areas, and to assist in the handling of bulky or heavy articles as necessary.
• Wash outside windows, police outside property to keep free of trash; to cut/rake lawn, shovel and salt walkways as needed.
• Complete daily/monthly logs as required by Maintenance Coordinator or Site Supervisor or Manager.
