At Jacobs, we challenge the status quo and transform visionary ideas into impactful solutions for municipalities and communities. As a Drinking Water Operator II in Renton, WA, you will help ensure our water treatment plant operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain water treatment plant equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, and PLC/SCADA systems.
  • Monitor process parameters by reading gauges, meters, and control panels.
  • Adjust chemical dosages and flow rates to meet treatment specifications.
  • Start, stop, and troubleshoot equipment to maintain uninterrupted service.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed operational reports and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Conduct safety and process‑control meetings and training sessions.
  • Take proactive actions to safeguard the health and safety of yourself and your team.
Schedule

Wednesday – Saturday or Sunday – Wednesday*

Qualifications – Required
  • Washington State Waterworks Operator WTPO 3 certification or eligibility to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating a water treatment facility.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety principles and practices.
  • Computer proficiency, including spreadsheets, word processing, and the maintenance management system.
  • Valid driver’s license with no major infractions.
  • Understanding of the operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment.
Ideally You’ll Also Have
  • Experience with general maintenance work and safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of biological and chemical analysis methods used in drinking water treatment.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and data management systems.
  • Ability to operate plant PLCs and SCADA systems.
Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements

Expect to spend substantial time performing safety‑sensitive tasks in indoor and outdoor settings, often in noisy, high‑pressure, or confined environments. Regular standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting are required. Fitness for Duty testing will be mandatory, and appropriate personal protective equipment must be used at all times.

Benefits

Base salary range: $97,760 to $104,000; hourly pay is based on hours worked.
